Terms of Use
Guide Star Health, LLC ("Guide Star," "we," "us," "our") Effective date: 2026-07-28 Last updated: 2026-08-17
1. Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Guide Star Health service, including our website, applications, and related features (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What Guide Star is — and is not
Guide Star is a personalized information and support tool for people living with Parkinson's disease and those who care for them. You provide information about yourself, and the Service uses it to tailor the answers you receive from an AI system.
⚠️ Not medical advice
Guide Star does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The Service is for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice from your physician or other qualified healthcare provider. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified healthcare provider with any questions about a medical condition, medications, or treatment. Never disregard or delay seeking professional medical advice because of something you read on Guide Star — including anything read in the Chat Room, whether from Guide Star or from another member.
Using the Service does not create a doctor-patient or other professional-care relationship.
In an emergency, call 911 (or your local emergency number) immediately. Do not rely on Guide Star for emergencies.
3. AI-generated content
Answers are generated by an artificial intelligence system and may be incomplete, inaccurate, out of date, or not appropriate for your situation. You are responsible for how you use any information from the Service, and you should independently verify important information — especially anything concerning medications, symptoms, or treatment — with your healthcare provider or an authoritative source.
4. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be 18 or older and able to form a binding contract to use the Service.
- The Service is intended only for residents of the United States.
- You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account credentials secure.
- You are responsible for activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
5. Setting up a profile for someone else, Care Circles, and sharing
- Profiles you create about another person. You may use the Service to create and manage a profile about another person — for example, a caregiver setting up a profile for the person living with Parkinson's. If you do, you represent and warrant that you have that person's consent, or the legal authority (such as a power of attorney, healthcare proxy, or guardianship), to (a) provide their information to Guide Star, (b) use the Service on their behalf, and (c) share their information with anyone you invite into a Care Circle. You are responsible for that person's information within your account, for keeping it accurate, and for honoring their wishes — including requests to correct or remove it. See our Privacy Policy for how the subject of a profile can reach us.
- Care Circles. An account owner may invite family members or friends to share access to a profile. By inviting someone, you confirm you have the authority and consent to disclose the relevant information to them, and you understand the invitation shares sensitive health information with the people you invite. Owners can revoke access.
- Sharing answers. You may choose to share an individual answer with others through your own device and apps. You are responsible for what you choose to share and with whom.
- These features are governed by the same "not medical advice" terms above.
6. Community Chat Room
Guide Star's Chat Room is a shared discussion space for people navigating the same condition — a different kind of sharing from the private, one-on-one AI chat and from Care Circles. Anything you post there is visible to every other subscriber in that same vertical (for example, everyone in the Parkinson's community, or everyone in the Celiac community) — not just people you've specifically invited.
⚠️ Not private — think before you post
Messages you post in the Chat Room are not private, and are not limited to a small, invited group the way Care Circle sharing is. Do not post anything — your own health details or anyone else's — that you would not want a wide group of fellow members to see. We cannot guarantee that something you post won't be seen, copied, or shared further by other members, including after you delete it.
Posts and replies from other members are not reviewed or endorsed by Guide Star and are not medical advice, even when they describe someone else's personal experience. The "not medical advice" limits in Section 2 above apply to anything anyone posts in the Chat Room, not just to Guide Star's own answers.
- Anonymization. You may set a display name for the Chat Room that's different from your account name. This is a convenience, not a guarantee of anonymity — please don't rely on it to share anything you wouldn't be comfortable being traced back to you.
- Reporting and moderation. You can report a message you believe violates these Terms. We may review reports and, at our discretion and without prior notice, remove content or limit a member's ability to post — including temporarily or permanently. A removed message may still appear as having been posted, without its original content, so other members' conversations stay readable.
- Your responsibility for what you post. The Acceptable Use and Your Content sections below apply fully to the Chat Room. You are solely responsible for what you post there, and Guide Star is not responsible for content posted by other members.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for anything other than its intended purpose (personalized health information and support for your condition, or — in the Chat Room — genuine discussion with fellow members about that condition), including attempting to use it as a general-purpose AI assistant or to generate unrelated content;
- Attempt to extract, probe for, or access other users' information, or circumvent the Service's instructions, safeguards, or access controls;
- Submit content that is unlawful, infringing, harmful, or that you don't have the right to submit;
- Harass, threaten, abuse, impersonate, or post spam directed at other members, including in the Chat Room;
- Misuse, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the Service or its underlying systems;
- Use the Service to provide medical advice to others or hold it out as a medical device or professional service.
8. Your content
You retain ownership of the information and content you submit ("Your Content"). You grant Guide Star a license to host, process, and use Your Content to operate, provide, secure, and improve the Service (including the limited internal review described in our Privacy Policy), and to share it as described in the Privacy Policy. You represent that you have the rights necessary to submit Your Content and to grant this license.
9. Our intellectual property
The Service — including its software, the prompt-augmentation logic that personalizes answers, content, design, and trademarks — is owned by Guide Star or its licensors and protected by law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. No other rights are granted.
10. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and share information.
11. Disclaimers of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content or AI-generated answer. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Guide Star and its founders, members, and personnel will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service or reliance on any content or answer — including content posted by other members in the Chat Room.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Guide Star from claims and expenses arising out of your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms or applicable law.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or its users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g., IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will survive.
15. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may modify the Service or these Terms. For material changes to the Terms, we will provide notice as appropriate and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of- laws rules.
